Tips and Tricks to Make Your Own Homemade Salsa

Are you ready to salsa? Now, I’m obviously talking about the kind of salsa you can eat and not the dance. Although, you may just want to do a little dance after making your own tasty rendition of this classic snack.

Instead of just giving you any old salsa recipe or claiming that I have the greatest salsa recipe of all time—though that may be true—let’s learn how to make your own personalized salsa. We’ll start by breaking down the main ingredients.

The Base

Most modern salsa recipes start with the base of a long-standing classic pico de gallo. Not everyone fully agrees on which ingredients are used to make pico de gallo, but the majority say it contains these five: diced tomatoes, chopped onions, cilantro, lime juice, and sliced peppers—usually jalapeños or serranos.

Want to make green salsa instead? Switch out tomatoes for tomatillos.

Extra Ingredients

Next we’ll add a touch of personalization. If you’re looking to add a little taste of sweetness to your salsa, try adding bell peppers, corn, mango, or pineapple. You can also add beans for protein. Some other ideas include avocado, capers, minced olives, peanut butter, cubed cucumber, and diced radish.

Seasonings

Now it’s time to make your salsa recipe unique. Add in your own combination of spices, herbs, and seasonings. Here are some popular favorites to get you started: salt, black pepper, garlic, cumin, dried oregano, coriander, and cinnamon.

Get Creative

Get creative with it! Mix it up, adjust different quantities of each ingredient, and experiment with different combinations. You can choose to keep your salsa a chopped salsa, or you can throw it in the blender to make a liquid salsa. Try opening up your Veggies supplement capsules or Fruits supplement capsules and mix in the powders. Please refer to the bottle for product information. Last but not least, grab your favorite vegetables to dip in your salsa, and do your salsa dance!
