Sid & Friends Guest Special: Dr. Douglas Howard* on Balance of Nature

Dr. Howard* Drops In on “Sid & Friends” to Talk Health, Dogs, and Balance of Nature

By Taysom Cummings

It was a quick but lively segment when Dr. Douglas Howard,* founder and formulator behind Balance of Nature, stopped by Sid & Friends In the Morning for a surprise visit. The beloved health expert and wellness advocate joined host Sid Rosenberg, along with guests Cory Zelnik and Pete Morgan, to talk about his decades of work promoting nutrition through fruits and vegetables—and even unveiled a brand new product aimed at helping our four-legged friends.

Dr. Howard's* visit began with a wave of excitement from the studio. As Sid put it, “Doc walks in—I mean, he's a superstar here because all these guys, they take Balance of Nature.” Zelnik quickly confirmed: “It's gotta be at least fifteen years. Every single day.”

Sid, who's taken the product himself, pushed further—curious as ever—asking why the huge variety of ingredients in Balance of Nature supplements seem to be so effective. “It's ingredients from 100% pure fruits and vegetables,” Dr. Howard* explained. “It just took me years to make a formula to put the right fruits and the right vegetables.”

As for how it all began? Dr. Howard* credited both experience and inspiration. “Well, me and God,” he said. “I didn't make the fruits and vegetables.” He recounted his time in Russia at Pavlov Medical University, where he served as Dean of Foreign Students. It was there, while making environmental observations, that he began to truly understand the complex chemistry of fruits and vegetables. “It started with a whole myriad of things,” he added.

Just before the show wrapped, Dr. Howard* dropped a surprise announcement: a new pet-focused dog food topper called Dr. Phytos. “It's Balance of Nature for the dog,” he said, smiling. Designed with the same principles as the Balance of Nature Fruits & Veggies supplement formula but modified with input from veterinarian experts, Dr. Phytos offers natural support for dog health, without ingredients that may be unsafe for them, such as grapes.

The conversation closed with genuine warmth. “You've got a wonderful product,” Sid said. “And even more important, you're a wonderful guy. And you love dogs. We love dogs, so that's a big thing.”

Dr. Howard* reminded listeners that when it comes to health—whether for humans or pets—nature, science, and compassion are a powerful combination.
